They say the first step is the hardest. This is especially true when writing. Often, we get stuck overthinking how to start writing down the ideas that are racing through our heads.
Here are a few tips we hope will help you get started.
1. Decide on your topic
What are you writing about? What is your main idea? As I always say, write it down. This will help you to keep focused on the topic or the point you are trying to get across.
2. Get excited about the topic
If the topic is interesting to you it will flow through to your writing. It also makes it easier to connect to it, which makes the writing easier.
3. Create an outline
An outline gives you a basic idea of how your story will flow and keeps you on point. To learn more about creating an outline and why it is important, click here.
4. Focus on your writing
Stay focused on your writing and cut out distractions whenever possible. Even better is if you can schedule a regular writing time.
At IABX, our mission is to promote and empower independent authors. We strive to provide useful and valuable information to do just that.
Feel free to send us an email at info@iabx.org if you have any comments or suggestions. We would love to hear from you!
