Dr. Cadmus S. Hull
Author of The Black History Bowl: Daily Review Facts
Dr. Hull earned an Associate Degree in Education from Cumberland County College and both a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s Degree from Glassboro State College, now Rowan University.
His educational path led him to Nova University where he achieved his ultimate goal of a Doctorate Degree in School Leadership
Dr. Hull worked in the Vineland and Fairfield Township School districts as a classroom teacher. He went on to work in the Fairfield Township School System as Principal and Superintendent of Schools. He retired on June 30, 2004, after 33 years in education. A little-known black history fact is that Dr. Hull was Cumberland County’s first black Superintendent of Schools.
Dr. Hull is enjoying his retirement with his wife Sylvia while writing books, reading, and traveling. In addition, Dr. Hull keeps himself busy these days by serving as a Clinical Teaching Supervisor for Fairleigh Dickinson University. He is the Owner of SSJ Books and More, a business that involves 4 authored African American books, and a memoir

This book is designed for anyone who is interested in learning African American history facts. There is an interesting fact for each weekday of the school year. In addition to providing historical information on the contributions that African Americans have made to history, the facts are a natural path to other activities (games, discussions, etc.). The daily review facts are easy to use. The facts can be used as a convenient way to learn African American history all year long.

This book began as a letter to Dr. Hull’s grandchildren, offering life advice. As he wrote, he realized his story could also inspire the many children he encountered as a teacher and principal.
Chronicling his early years, the book shows that humble beginnings don’t limit big dreams. Dr. Hull shares lessons learned over the years, hoping to guide readers in navigating their own lives. As an educator, he is committed to imparting wisdom to enrich the lives of children.
The Black History Bowl African Americans Throughout American History (2020)
This book has sections on African American contributions to the military, medicine, religion, and transportation. There is a section showing African American contributions for every day of the year, “Then and Now.” In addition, there is a section on Historically Black Colleges with some notable graduates. The book finishes with a test of your knowledge of African American history with two quizzes, and 114 facts on famous African Americans.

Hopefully, it will tweak your interest to do further research to find out more about their contributions to American history. In 1915, Dr. Carter G. Woodson founded the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History in Washington, D.C. He initiated Negro History Week in 1926 to honor Black Americans' significant contributions to American and World history. It expanded to Black History Month in February 1976, commemorating Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass.
