Motivation - True Power Begins Within

ree

Happy Monday, IABX community!

This Monday, let's pause and reflect on the wisdom of Lao Tzu: “Mastering others is strength. Mastering yourself is true power.”

We often think of strength in terms of how much we can achieve, overcome, or even control in the world around us. Winning arguments, reaching goals, or leading others can all be signs of external strength. But Lao Tzu reminds us that the greatest and most lasting power doesn’t come from what we master outside, it comes from what we master within.

Self-mastery is about more than willpower. It’s the ability to stay calm in chaos, to be patient when things don’t go as planned, and to choose growth instead of fear. It’s learning to respond instead of react, to forgive instead of holding on to anger, and to stay disciplined even when motivation fades.

When we master ourselves, we create a foundation of strength that can’t be shaken by circumstances, challenges, or the opinions of others. It gives us clarity in decision-making, resilience in hard times, and peace even in the face of uncertainty.

So this week, instead of focusing only on what you can control around you, turn inward. Ask yourself: Am I in control of my emotions, habits, and mindset, or am I letting outside situations control me?

True power comes from choosing patience over frustration, courage over fear, and consistency over comfort. Each small choice builds the inner strength that allows us to face life with confidence.

This week, let’s work on mastering the one thing we truly have power over, ourselves.

Have a great week!
