If you get Tired, Learn to Rest Not to Quit

Updated: May 14, 2023

Friend,

We are entering spring and the weather is getting warmer. We are almost half way through the year and if you are like me you're looking at some of the things you wanted to get done. You set a goal, you haven't quite met it and you're tired.

Late nights, early mornings and you feel like you are running out of gas. You came into 2023 declaring this is your year, and maybe everything hasn't been going your way. Now you're feeling a little defeated.

You're looking at other people and saying they're doing it, they're succeeding, they are moving and shaking. What about me?

COMPARISON IS THE THIEF OF JOY

Here are 4 things you can do to reenergize yourself.

1. Go Outside

Research states that just 10 minutes outside can improve your mood, memory and your ability to absorb new information. I try to get outside every day to clear my head. I spend a lot of time at the computer and it definitely helps me to hit the reset button during the day.

2. Help someone

Try volunteering your time, at a school, a local nonprofit, at the senior center. I find that helping others will put your situation in a new perspective. You tend to be less hard on yourself. I work with the homeless and it puts me in an attitude of gratitude for all that I have.

3. Do something fun

Sometimes you need a good laugh. Connect with friends who are encouraging and upbeat and they can give you a pick me up.

4. Pray or Meditate

Studies show that prayer or meditation can help you find purpose in your life if they feel down or stressed.

I want to encourage you to take the break you need, step away for a minute, a day, a week even and catch your breath. This is not a sprint, this is a marathon and you're in it for the long haul. Remember a tired mind doesn't work well, and you will only frustrate yourself. Recharge your energy so you can have the strength to finish up strong.

Remember, DON'T QUIT.
