To promote and empower independent authors through
various events and workshops, thereby promoting literacy for all ages.
Independent Authors Book Experience (IABX) is a non-profit organization that seeks to promote the work of Self-Published or Independent Authors, Poets, Publishers and Illustrators.
Since its creation, IABX has become a widely-recognized hub of resources for the launch and promotion of new titles, including author profiles, book reviews, recommendations, event information, interviews and articles.
If you have a book you would like to launch, then this is a fantastic opportunity to do so. Whether you are a Christian writer, children’s book author, poet or young adult novelist, IABX is a perfect setting in which to network with fellow writers, publishers and booksellers.
How We Started
Independent Authors Book Experience was launched by Renaee Smith. From her own experiences as an independent author, Mrs. Smith understands that sometimes writing a book is less troublesome than determining the next steps in the process.
Promotion is the key to success, so we strive to bridge the gap between independent authors, publishers and readers. The Independent Authors Book Expo is one of the many events that the Independent Authors Book Experience hosts in order to accomplish this goal.
Mrs. Smith has authored seven books: two cookbooks (Jamaica's Forgotten Treats and Memba When) and four children's books (The Great Compost Heap, Freddie's First Race, Who Turned the Lights Out?, and her latest, Freddie's Good Deed). Her cookbook, Memba When, won international acclaim when it was awarded "Best First Cookbook for Jamaica" from the Gourmand Cookbook Awards in 2014. Her latest book is 31 Days of Encouragement and inspirational calendar.
IABX BOOK EXPO
The Independent Authors Book Expo was established to offer independent and self-published authors an opportunity to showcase their talent and work. The Independent Authors Book Expo our biggest event attracts a diverse population of authors from all over the United States.
The event is designed to expose these authors to new readers and is a fun and free event for the local community in and across Essex, Middlesex and Union Counties and the tristate area. The Expo, is a family-friendly event, and brings in a large audience from the community.
In addition to being an important platform for our authors, this event also promotes early literacy and is aimed to encourage and inspire young readers. We host a Children’s Corner where children get the opportunity to have the author read to them from their books as well as participate in the many activities that we have, Arts and Craft, Puzzle Making and more.
